This week on the podcast we’ve got Bailey Ryan from Paleo Bailey! Bailey describes herself as a “former 300lb chip eatin’ couch potato” – but now she’s a Whole30 superstar and has an amazing journey from binge eating, food addiction, compulsive eating, to discovering the Whole30 and losing 120 lbs while finding her own food freedom – and even becoming a Whole30 certified coach! Bailey also has some great knowledge bombs and pro tips, whether you’re doing your first Whole30, your fifteenth, or you’re on a weight loss journey and are struggling with the process of learning to eat real food + make this a sustainable lifestyle.

An important thing to note: this isn’t a Whole30 propaganda episode saying that everyone should do one. We talk about Whole30 can be a great start of a healthy lifestyle, but that it can’t cure everything. As the first Whole30 book says, it STARTS with food – but it can’t end there if you want to get to true optimal health and happiness in your own skin.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • Bailey’s journey from binge eating and food addiction to finding Whole30, finding her own food freedom, to losing 120 lbs and become a whole30 certified coach!
  • What no one tells you about weight loss (spoiler alert: everyone will want to give their advice or opinion, and sometimes, they suck.)
  • How Bailey sees a lot of people with long-term weight loss goals jumping in and out of whole30 for weeks at a time, because they know it can be a fast track to seeing some physical results. But in the long-run, the goals are better met using what you learned on the original whole30.
  • Why it’s SO important to learn how to get ‘back on track’ and just eat healthy without having to rely on Whole30 as a weight loss crutch (aka alternating between Whole30 season and margarita season).
  • Why Bailey encourages all her whole30 clients to go out to restaurants during their Whole30, to help them become empowered to learn how to make healthy choices outside of their comfort zone.
