Turkey Apple Sage Sausage

Serves: 8 slices
Ingredients
  • 1 tsp ghee or coconut oil
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 apple, peeled and diced
  • 5 sage leaves, chopped
  • 3 tsp roasted garlic (or 4 cloves)
  • 1 ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper*
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ medium yellow onion, diced
  • optional: 1-2 Tbsp maple syrup or honey
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 and grease a loaf pan with 1 tsp melted ghee. You could also form your meat mixture into sausage shapes and either fry them up in a skillet or bake them in the oven, but hey, I’m lazy.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Get in there with your hands!
  3. Push your meat mixture into the loaf pan so it’s spread evenly.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until cooked through and only a tiny bit of pink remains in the center of your sausage.
  5. Cut into 8 slices and serve.

*AIP omit black pepper.
