January Favorites 2017 | Real Food with Dana

The end of another (glorious Whole30!) month means another monthly favorites roundup post! Let’s get right to it because I want to share alllll this goodness with you.

Favorite Eats & Drinks

Four Sigmatic Mushroom Coffee: before you freak out, hear me out. The folks at Four Sigmatic are waaay ahead of the game here with their mushroom-infused drinks. This one in particular has Cordyceps and Chaga mushrooms, which both have powerful antioxidants, anti-viral effects, and immune-boosting properties, including supporting the adrenal glands (cordyceps). Plus it tastes great, especially when you add some Nutpods to it!

Nutpods: My new essential for a Whole30 – or really any time I feel like drinking coffee. They’re naturally sweet (no added sugars, for the win!) and are hands-down the best dairy-free coffee creamer I’ve had! Whole30-approved too. wiiiiinning.

Primal Palate Spices: took me freaking long enough to finally order these! Bill and Hayley of Primal Palate did an amazing job hand-crafting these babies. Current favorites: the Meat and Potatoes spice, Garlic & Herb Breakfast Blend, and the Adobo Spice.

Sun Basket: These guys were a lifesaver this month. If you follow me on the gram (um duh, you should) you saw I cooked up 3 different Sun Basket meals, all with pre-measured ingredients and bomb a** delicious recipes including Japanese Pork Curry and Cauliflower Rice, Lemongrass Salmon with Red Chard, and Italian Meatball Soup. Want to give it a try? Here’s a code for your first 3 Sun Basket Meals Free!

Primal Kitchen Foods Extra Virgin Avocado Oil: I have to admit I was slightly freaked out when I opened this bottle for the first time because the oil is BRIGHT GREEN. Little did I know that’s avocado oil in its purest form! Who knew. I’ve been using it to mix my own salad dressings, and it adds a great unique flavor!

The cutest little tangerines from California: I’m so jealous of all my Cali friends picking their citrus right now. Guess I’ll just have to import them across the country…and I’m not sorry about it.

(Books) I’m devouring…

the Whole30 Cookbook: I’ve been cooking from this amazing book alll month for my January Whole30. Freaking loving the creativity of the recipes, and highly recommended to anyone – whether you’re doing a Whole30 or not! This one will definitely keep me going for a while!

the Selection Series by Kiera Cass: Definitely not (okay, only slightly) ashamed to admit that I absolutely love reading young adult fantasy novels. Um HELLO would you expect anything else from a Harry Potter addict? This series is basically like the Hunger Games meets the Bachelor. Without any of the gnarly bloodshed of either of those two shows. Obsessed.

Skincare Favorites

Beautycounter Nourishing Cream Exfoliator: Current needs – a face ways that cleanses, but doesn’t totally dry me out. Totally obsessed with this one right now!! p.s. I’m giving these away fo free with any Beautycounter order through this link over $150 through Valentine’s Day!

Homemade Peppermint Body Butter: You guys, my skin is dry AF these days. So I came up with a concoction of cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil, and essential oils to try and solve my problem. Holy woah I’m obsessed with this stuff! Will be bringing you guys the recipe soon!

Balancing Face Oil: When I get stressed, I break out. This month has been particularly crazy for me, so I’ve been mixing a few drops of this Balancing Face Oil with whatever lotion I put on my face at night (or the homemade body butter above!) to make sure I don’t break out!

Andalou Naturals Shampoo and Conditioner: I’ve been testing out a bunch of different natural shampoos and conditioners because I have an extremely dry scalp! These are my favorites this month, will report back with more later!

Paleo Salmon Burgers with Tzatziki and Sweet Potato Buns

Current recipe obsessions

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip. Ummmm Super Bowl, anyone??

Roasted Brussels Sprouts Rice. My new favorite way to cook my favorite vegetable!

Paleo Salmon Burgers with Tzatziki and Sweet Potato Buns. There’s literally nothing else I can say about this recipe except that I devour it every single time and casually hoard the leftovers. It’s fine.
