Are you looking to stock up for Whole30 pantry success? Or have you just moved (like me!) and are trying to start off on the (healthy and prepared) right foot? Read on, friends!

Real talk: I just moved. Like 2 days ago. When I was packing, my goal was to bring as little as possible, only the necessities. Because I feel so much more organized with less STUFF (and obviously, because then I wouldn’t have to pack and unpack so many boxes!) Which is exactly why I’ve been trying to downsize in every aspect of my life – clothes, old papers and textbooks from school, kitchen and photography props, etc.

So when it came to re-stocking my kitchen (because I had literally. No. food.), I wanted to take the same approach – I find when I have too many options of different spices, sauces, condiments, etc., I end up not using a lot of them. And I absolutely HATE wasting food. So I put together a minimal list of pantry ingredients that I’m using to re-stock my pantry (feat. my favorite real food brands DUH), which will just so happen to be a totally Whole30 Pantry, because my move was just in time for the September Whole30 this year!

Also. Let’s be real (again) – if you buy all the fancy Whole30-approved sauces and stuff, that ish can get expeeensive. So what’s a girl (or guy, or family, ya know!) to do? Shop around at multiple stores to find the best deals, or just use this guide that I’ve put together for you. Ha! What I do? Stock up on pantry goodies Thrive Market (which is basically Whole Foods stuff at costco prices), get my fruits + veggies from a CSA, and organic meats from either Costco or Trader Joe’s.

P.S. because you guys are the best, here’s 25% off PLUS free shipping off your first order at Thrive Market. Why else this is cool? Because for the ENTIRE month of September, Thrive is giving every dollar donated at checkout through their Spread the Health program to families affected by Hurricane Harvey. Donations will go toward healthy Thrive Market food, baby supplies, and clean water, all purchased at cost, and shipped directly to Thrive’s partner organizations on the ground in areas affected by the storm. Getting inexpensive groceries AND donating to a good cause? WINNING.

So without any more moving talk, here are my non-negotiables for stocking a new pantry, or for re-stocking/making sure you have these for your Whole30!

Cooking Fats & Oils

Avocado oil (Favorite brand: Primal Kitchen Foods from Thrive Market)
Ghee – (Favorite brand: 4th & Heart – Thrive)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil – (Grab some from Trader Joe’s (Organic) or Thrive)
Organic Coconut oilThrive

Note – you don’t need all of these to start, as re-stocking your pantry with good-quality oils can be expensive, I know! Start with olive oil (for dressings and low heat cooking) and one or two of the other options for high-heat cooking (like coconut oil, ghee, and avocado oil).

 Spices & Flavor Boosters

Spice blends (Favorite: Primal Palate – grab them on Amazon or Groupon!)
Real Salt (Mineral Sea Salt & Salt Blends – Thrive)
Mayonnaise – (Fave: Primal Kitchen Foods – Thrive)
Avocado Oil Dressings – (Fave: Primal Kitchen Foods...are you sensing a theme here? I’m obsessed it’s fiiine.) @ Thrive
Buffalo & BBQ SaucesThe New Primal (Amazon or Thrive Market!)

PRO TIP: Easiest way to make your food taste good on the Whole30 without making complicated meal plans or recipes? Cook up some plain protein, veggies, and carbs, and dress them up with your favorite spice blends and dressings. Easy peasy!

Vinegars & Citrus

Apple Cider Vinegar (Brand: Bragg’s RawThrive)
Balsamic Vinegar – (Thrive Market)
Lemon & Lime juice – (I get mine at Whole Foods)

Bonus…snacks!

Keep some Whole30-friendly snacks on hand for emergencies. Favorites: raw nuts, jerky (Epic brand, Pederson’s Bacon Jerky, Chomps), That’s it! bars (pictured here), RX bars, etc. Don’t use these as a substitute for meals, or as a crutch for your sugar cravings.

basically: keep it simple, silly. It doesn’t need to be fancy to taste good!
