Today’s episode is with Jess Thomas the founder of Health Lab, an Australian wellness and beauty brand “inspired by what real women need and want”! Jess was working in the corporate world  and realized that the 3pm coffee + café breaks just weren’t cutting it; making her and her coworkers’ sugar cravings worse, and making them feel crappy overall. So she started rolling her own protein bites at home, and after countless coworkers kept asking for them, she started selling them to local cafés. A few years later, Jess is the full-time CEO of her own business, having quit her corporate job to pursue her dream.

On today’s show we’re talking all about what it’s really like to start your own business from the ground-up, what to do when you hit all the road bumps along the way (because there will be a lot of them!), and how to deal with the stress of creating a business and balancing a full-time job when you struggle with chronic health issues.

We Discuss:

  • What it’s like building a startup business when you’re already working a full-time job
  • How starting a business isn’t all glamorous and butterflies and rainbows. We talk Jess’ biggest road bumps she hit along the way, including the “We Effed Up” campaign!
  • How not to get caught in the comparison trap with other businesses and people on instagram
  • What she does as a CEO to help manage stress and overwhelm
  • Jess’ top tips for new entrepreneurs
