Today’s episode is all about stress, self-care, and taking a good, hard look at your lifestyle as a whole, and being totally honest with yourself about what isn’t serving you or your health right now. And what the heck a stress bucket is, and why you should care.

Because here’s the thing. As women in the past few generations, we’ve grown up with: you can have it all. You can be wonder woman, the CEO at work, have an awesome family and be an awesome mom, eat clean all the time, do kickass workouts, have a ‘great’ body or whatever that means, have tons of energy all the time, and be totally present when you’re doing it all. “A good person would be able to do it all because you CAN do it all” We come from a generation of people who walk around feeling bad all the time because they haven’t reached this level of perfection. YOU CAN’T DO IT ALL. or if you do, you’re half-assing everything.

Newsflash: the term self-care has been obnoxiously over-used and as one of my readers said, just makes everyone sound like self-absorbed turds. Of course you need to take care of yourself and re-charge. BUT You can do great self care without getting a blowout and an advanced yoga pose and putting it on Instagram.

We discuss:

  • How we’ve grown up with the ‘wonder woman’ / you can do it all analogy – but how you really CAN’T.
  • The comparison trap on social media with the hustle vs. glamorized self-care
  • The analogy of a stress bucket, and how even ‘good’ stress can push you over the edge
  • When you may need to take a break from coffee, alcohol, and intense exercise)
  • How to make a stress list – and how everyone has a different threshold
  • Getting rid of some of your stressors, and how to manage others
  • Top self-care tips (that are more practical than a blowout, organic manicure and advanced yoga pose)
