Emily Vazquez is a dietitian and food freedom coach who helps her clients end the binge-restrict cycle. On today’s episode we’re chatting about how different types of restriction can lead to binge eating – for example, you can still binge even if you think you’re eating enough, if you think you’re eating things in moderation, etc. And what is mental restriction, anyway? 

We also discuss approaching foods (especially things like treats) with a diet mentality vs. a food freedom mentality, and how to get there. And a super important topic I know you guys are going to want to hear about – we talk about the fear of weight gain, how that fear can keep people with one foot in yo-yo dieting and one foot in trying out a neutral approach to food and nutrition – all the while preventing you from making a full recovery and getting out of the chronic dieting space. Emily is also giving some tips for coping with weight gain if that has been a part of your journey towards recovery.
