The problem with healthism and ‘what I eat in a day’ posts, with Maria Sylvester Terry | Real Talk with Dana PodcastToday’s podcast guest is Maria Sylvester Terry, a registered dietitian dedicated to sharing a message of food freedom through myth-busting and, of course, her wild case of the sillies. We have some fun conversations on the show today on what real nutrition science says about fad diets, diet culture vs. healthism, and some of the major problems with social media in the age of ‘everyone is an expert’. Specifically, we’re touching on the problems with ‘what I eat in a day’ posts (and how they perpetuate healthism and the blame game in responsibility and health), //  how “I did it, and so can you!” is *not* a nutrition or fitness credential and how these kinds of posts (hint: shady marketing to get you to buy stuff) are not only harmful but they also perpetuate false information that doesn’t hold up to true, evidence-based nutrition science. Finally, we’re chatting about cravings – why they’ve been demonized by diet and wellness culture, what cravings really mean, and what they can tell you about what your body may need.
